Glockenbach from History to Hipsters
We will start literally with our first highlight, the tower of the church St. Maximilian (Fitness first!) If you have no head for heights, climb up with us just a couple of stairs to get closer to the sky. Enjoy a breathtaking view over the skyline of Munich and the river Isar. It's definitely worth the effort.
After this highlight we will continue our walking tour. Just one block further down, you will be able to enjoy a taste of the culinary paradise at “Götterspeise” - a wonderland of chocolate, yummy cakes, coffee and tea. Enjoy!
Then we will stroll along the lovely riverside of Westermühlbach to the oldest cemetery of Munich, while we get to know why this ancient poor district of Munich has become so hip today. Depending on the weather and your walking conditions you may try typical Bavarian cheese or delicious Italian ice cream. In the Café Alof we will taste homemade German bread. Our last stop will be in a unique artist's workshop in a typical courtyard, where another culinary surprise is waiting for you!
Duration about 3,5 h, 5-10 persons
75.-€ p. person incl. 3 tastings in different locations and a homemade "Brotzeitkorb" with a typical Bavarian picnic.
We probably will start our first tour in spring 2015.
If the weather is bad, the tour will be postponed to another date or may need to be cancelled.
We start from Harras, have our first "culinary taste" in the cute Mels café in Untersendling, then cycle through the old Schlachthofviertel (abbatoir district) towards Roeckplatz. Along the lovley Isar we pass through the Au on to Haidhausen. There are plenty of great restaurants and charming cafés in the ancient "French quarter". We taste a spicy soup at the Weißenburger Platz. For hungry cyclers the next chance to try some local goodies is not far at the little market at the Wiener Platz. From here we ride via the Maximilianeum to the Englischer Garten. After having watched the famous local Eisbach surfers, we cruise - less sportily, but perhaps more relaxed - through Munich's biggest parc. In the beer garden Chinesischer Turm we will have our picnic with homemade Bavarian specialities and fresh beer. Eventually we will pass the Hofgarten to enjoy the gorgeous view onto the Feldherrnhalle and the Theatinerkirche at the Tambosi café. If the sun is shining, Italien feeling is guaranteed!
